About the event

Suitable for complete beginners.
You don’t need to be artistic to give this a go.
Pyrography is the art of using heat to burn a design onto a surface, this can include wood, paper,
leather and bone, but in this workshop we are concentrating on using wood.
In this comprehensive workshop Alex will guide you through every stage of the pyrography process
including:
· Choosing and preparing the right woods.
· Safety in pyrography
· Using the pyrography machine and making different types of mark.
· Planning your design and transferring it onto the wood
· Burning your design
· Different finishes for your wood.
We will create several pieces including:
· A grid of different marks for you to take home for future reference.
· A keyring
· A small piece of free-standing art, either a wood pebble, Shelf sitter or hanging disc
· A chopping/serving board.
If you have time to produce more, I have plenty of prepared wood in various shapes and sizes which
can be purchased at an additional cost.
You will also be given a workshop information booklet detailing everything we go through on the day,
so you can easily refer to it if you choose to take up pyrography at home.
By the end of the day you will have all the knowledge you need to safely start on your own
pyrography journey.
What is provided on the day:
The use of all necessary equipment including Pyrography machines (Peter Childs), pencils, erasers,
transfer and drawing paper, artwork and templates to use for the designs or for inspiration, all safety
